Sheriff Heimann has been with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office since 1978. Prior to being elected Sheriff in 2004, he served as Deputy and Dispatcher, Civil Division Sergeant, Road Patrol Captain, Administrative Assistant, and Undersheriff to the former Sheriff, Ronald Ely. He also worked concurrently as a part-time Patrolman in his hometown of Attica. Sheriff Heimann has attended numerous law enforcement training schools and has had extensive civil training. He is a past recipient of the Dispatcher of the Year, Deputy of the Year and Medal of Merit Awards. The Sheriff has also previously held the positions of Trustee and Mayor of the Village of Attica. Sheriff Heimann is an accomplished vocalist and sings tenor in a Southern Gospel style quartet called the “Crossbearers.” Wyoming County has an area of 600 square miles and an approximate population of 42,000.
